The focus of my research is on protein structural bioinformatics. Within this general area, my main interests are protein modelling, genome functional annotation, protein structure analysis and characterization of protein-protein and protein-DNA complexes, protein sequence analysis;

 - I am collaborating with several research groups within and outside Sapienza University involved in basic research on protein function as well as in drug development. Typical examples are the design of protein mutations to study protein function or to modify certain protein biolgical properties such as substrate specificity and characterization of molecular targets for treatment of several malignancies such as multiple myeloma.

- I developed tools to investigate and analyze the relationship between protein sequence, structure and function, in particular the implications of alternative splicing on protein three-dimensional structure (

Structural biology, computational biology, bioinformatics, proteins, macromolecular complexes, sequence, structure, function, evolution, modeling of protein structure.
